Every Monday night, weave the ethereal beauty of Persian dance and the fiery, passion of Flamenco into a NEW dance that fuses the opposite qualities of these two traditions, inspiring a bold and fierce yet tender aliveness. Beg/Intermediate Level

Balance the feminine and masculine energies inside with short exuberant dance sequences that cultivate fluidity and strength, groundedness and flight, wild abandon and alert presence. These highly energetic classes are technique based yet internal.

“Part whirling dervish, part flamenco femme fatale, Banafsheh’s dance is a mesmerizing foray into the body as trance mechanism…” (LA Times). Banafsheh draws from her background in Persian dance, Sufi ritual, Tai Chi and Flamenco to uncover a form that is original yet based in tradition. Combining trance and directed movement in a physically explosive style, her movement is comprised in part by the Persian alphabet she has translated into gestures, whereby she dances poetic stanzas from Rumi. She holds an MFA degree in Dance and MA in Chinese Medicine, and tours her award- winning work with her dance company, NAMAH throughout North America, Europe and Australia where she also teaches extensively.
