Gallery Performance: Trio A by Simon Leung and Sara Wookey

Don't miss an intimate performance by Sara Wookey and Simon Leung who will perform Yvonne Rainer's seminal postmodern dance, Trio A. Wookey and Leung, who have both worked with extensively in re-performing and teaching this dance will dance the piece as a duet.
Sara Wookey is an choreographer, curator and creative consultant based in Los Angeles. She is currently directing a new project, reDANCE, consisting of a series of dance works by the Judson Dance Theater era performed by a next generation of dance artists to premiere in fall 2012. From 1996-2006 she lived and worked in Amsterdam, the Netherlands where she created over a dozen dance-theater works and taught at the Amsterdam School for the Arts. Since relocating to the United States, her works have been presented at Links Hall in Chicago, Museum of Contemporary Art in San Diego, Hammer Museum, g727, 24th Street Theater, Santa Barbara Contemporary Arts Forum, and REDCAT. Sara holds a Master of Fine Arts degree from UCLA and has been a guest artist at the California Institute of the Arts and on faculty at the CSULB department of dance. Leung is a contemporary artist whose practice focuses on larger artistic practices and via social, cultural and ethical issues. His multi-media installations have been exhibited at: Third Guangzhou Triennial (2008); the Venice Biennale (2003); the Luleå Summer Biennial (2005); among other well regarded sites. Leung is a professor of Studio Art at University of California, Irvine.
