Handmade gifts from Craft and Folk Art Museum's holiday bazaar

The courtyard of the Craft and Folk Art Museum in L.A. will be the main stage for the annual Holiday Global Bazaar on two upcoming Saturdays, Nov. 27 and Dec. 4. Among the handmade gifts for sale: baskets from Indonesia starting at $20, suzani pillows from Uzbekistan embroidered with organically dyed silk thread, and silk tapestries from Laos.  

The Global Bazaar also thinks locally. The garden hose baskets, above, by Chase DeForest of Denver, are $120 each. They would be handy for garden tools or as cachepots for indoor foliage still in ugly nursery pots. And, obviously, they can be hose-cleaned. 

For smaller keepsakes or tree-trimming-party gifts, there are the ornaments pictured at right by Aaron Kramer, whose Santa Monica residence we recently featured.

The ornaments are constructed from recycled metal bristles from street sweepers and decorated with buttons and beads. Each contains an object inside that rattles around as you examine the intricate geometrical design.

The 4-inch model is $40, a 5-inch ornament is $50 and a 6-inch is $60.
