“Needle” in a social position
“Needle” in a social position is a piece which I created for a group exhibition. This photomontage frame demonstrates a very calm sleeping girl with a large needle passing through her body, exiting between her legs.
Social and cultural pressures on women in Iran were the inspiring sources behind this piece. In Iran, women suffer and tolerate many social and cultural difficulties, but usually, one cannot discover this fact just by what is reflected from a woman’s posture and gesture. Composition of elements in this work is simple and symmetrically balanced. It is through its dimensions, 420 x 210 cm, which this piece increases its impression.
